Oh my was he worth it all!! Oh so precious, I got to take a little nap with this guy, I could have cuddle all day long!
G. ma and G. pa made it there shortly after to drop off the other kiddies we got to play with all week!
Ammon was such a good little buddy, he was so happy the whole drive up, and the way back he crashed...Played too hard with his friends.

A Breath of Fresh Air

That is how the New Year feels to me.. It's kind of funny how many of us need a marker to start new things, or have new goals. I think that this year I will have weekly goals vs yearly..I think with that it is a shorter time frame and i would be forced to do better, right? :) I think it will work swell for me at least!

Me and my bestie on New Years Eve

Some of the girls that we played games with..PS Girls won, just in case you were wondering.

No Use For a Name..

I woke up this morning with swollen eyes. I had no motivation to get out of bed. My chest ached and my stomach was all in knots. Thinking about what happened the night before made me start to cry again. I would rather walk on blazing hot coals in my bare feet than do what I did again. I told my best friend, the one who would do anything for me, the one who loved to surprise me, make me smile, and be apart of my life's adventures, that we had to stop, put a hold on things, and really evaluate our lives and what we want for our future. Life can be so great at times, and so rough and hard the others, but I guess that is how we learn and grow is from experiences. I hope more than anything, that last night was a "see ya later" kind of a thing and not "goodbye", only time will tell I suppose.
I do love life though, with all the trials and blessings. I am grateful for everything that I have experienced with this dear friend of mine, he opened my eyes to a lot a new and great things! This is not the end and you will see his face on this blog again, I know it. Just don't know when...

Hmm...Life

Oh life.. Who could hate it? Everything that comes and goes your way, good or bad who could hate the adventure? Life gives you waves of emotion. Excitement, happiness, fear, hate, nervousness, and dare I say love? Everywhere I look I see people in love is it because of the time of year, or that I live in Utah? Sometimes when I start to think of that word and the meanings / feelings that come with it I get nervous and then tell myself that it is the society that is making me think this. But is it?

They say if you want to know where your heart is, you look to where your mind wonders.. I know where my mind goes, so now the question is when do you brave the guts and act on it? The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing, but they also avoid suffering, sorrow, and fear. So to all you little love birds out there hearing my song, answer my question: When do you stop wondering and letting your past effect your future? When do you put your safety wall down and open your heart?

Tuesdays With Grams

Ha. Well it looks like the only thing in my life worth blogging about is my Grams.. I am one for history, I loved learning about it in school and what is even better than that is hearing stories of people who were there to experience it all.

October 29, 1929 was a day in history that we will always remember. It was Black Thursday, the day the market crashed Grandma was two years old. Her Dad, as I have mentioned before was the up and coming businessman in Oakley Idaho, until the government came in and shot all his cattle, and never received payment for it. Grandma says that she will never forget his face of sorrow the day he walked away from the dead cattle in the fields. Shortly there after he lost his ranch to the bank, but he wasn't going to lose this house or his family. Grandma said he was a hard worker, he began herding sheep and was on the board at the schoolhouse. He worked long days and was a quiet man but he always made sure his family was fed and clothed.

For special occasions Grandma remembers having lamb chops, and creamed corn cook on tiny stoves that warmed the house as well. Grandma says before they would go to bed they would boil water and put it in jars at the bottom of their beds to keep their feet warm. They still celebrated holidays and birthdays, they just got things that they needed as to what they wanted like clothes.

I asked her if she knew of families that were kicked out of their homes or if she noticed the suicide rates increasing. She answered no, she was young when it happened and really had nothing to compare it to. She went on to say that her mother had depression, she would lay in bed all day. The children would do the chores and the cleaning then just before her father would come home she would come out and cook dinner. It was hard for the children, Grandma was young but she says she remembers it as if it were yesterday. She encourages people who struggle with depression to do something about it. You have a choice to be happy or not, don't dwell on the negative things. Times were much harder then but she found joy..

Tuesdays With Grams

Well I finally after three weeks made it back to see my sweet Grams.. Things have gotten insane for me lately, work is busy I am counting down the days for January 1 then my days won't be so crazy. I have got to tell you though, I LOVE going every Tuesday I LOVE seeing her and spending time getting to know her better. I have a beautiful Grandma who has lived a hard life, she is an amazing woman, she has sacrificed so much for her family and I have learned a lot from her. I just love the woman! This visit i just went with a list of random questions.
  • Favorite meal: Chicken Fried Steak and mashed potatoes
  • Favorite subject in school: Latin, chemistry, and English
  • Sports, plays, band?: She made the first year book, because of the war they kind of gave away with it but she brought it back.
  • Naughtiest thing done in school: Played hookie in GRADE SCHOOL!! She didn't like her teacher so she skipped and went outside. Of course she got caught and was sent to the office.
  • What would your mother do when you were sick: Made her tea, Grams LOVES tea.
  • Did you ever hitchhike: No, but Jim would pick them up and buy them a beer.
  • Best Talent: Cooking, eating, but mostly she was a great nurse.
  • How many in your graduating class: 24
  • Paying jobs as a youth: cleaned houses, picked potatoes and babysat
  • Favorite time with Father: Dad didn't have much time, but he would eat very slow and the children could not get up until he was done. Grandma has a lot of memories of going to the sheep camp with him.
  • Good advice your father gave you: He was a very quiet man, but he did tell her not to get fat.
  • Favorite Holiday: Christmas. Her mom would put the Christmas tree up on her birthday every year, to make her day more special.

And that's it for this week, I do believe I look forward to these visits more than her!
